Recycling

Construction Recycling
We were able to salvage 100% of the building shell and 90% of the building interior. On-site re-use of materials included framing lumber, and interior doors. Construction recyclables were separated on site. Totals to date are: 360 lbs. of copper, 2800 lbs. of ferrous metals, 200 lbs. of aluminum, and 410 lbs. of cardboard, box board and paper.

Closing the recycling loop was part of the project plan. This was accomplished through the choice of materials and resources that were either recycled directly or contained post consumer recycled content such as: Everex decking material (95% post consumer resin, no maintenance, 40 year life span), 40 pallets of recycled #1 Chicago common bricks, and central collection of source separated recyclables.
Building Recycling
The building offers source separated recycling services for glass, metal, newspaper, mixed waste paper, office paper, and cardboard. The recycling pickup is through the Resource Center. You can find their information in our Links section. The building also composts all of the landscape waste, as well as kitchen compostables, which is reused on the native, rain garden, and roof garden landscaping.
