Performance Information -
Energy and Water Usage and Stormwater Management

Provide performance information for energy and water use and stormwater management. Such information might include BTUs per square foot per year, percentage of aggregate water use below baseline conditions; pre- and post-development 1.5 year, 24 hour peak discharge rates; and any additional information, measured or simulated.
Peak water demand for the new building is 2,220 gallons per minute, versus peak water demand for the old building at 3,120 gallons per minute. See Water Customer Data Sheets, provided by John Stubbart, Small Systems Manager for the American Waste Water Association.
Using the City of Chicago Dept. of Water data as a baseline, this project comes in at 63.5% below the 4 flat baseline - 254,991 gallons versus 339,988 gallons for an average 4 flat. See graph.
Water consumption was analyzed monthly. Total annual consumption of the new building with water efficient fixtures is 255,000 gallons, versus the old building annual consumption of 393,988 gallons. See graph.
Storm water was analyzed monthly based on a 30 year average precipitation for Chicago. Total storm water collected annually on the new building is 63,982 gallons, of which 34,844 gallons are diverted from the sewer system. The old building collected 43,303 gallons, all of which went into the sewer system. See graph.
Annual waste water output was reduced by 67.3% in the new building versus the old building. This was done through storm water diversion, and new water efficient plumbing fixtures. See graphs.
BTU usage was analyzed monthly for two heating seasons, giving an average BTU use actual. From this, an estimated BTU requirement for the new building was modeled, using the same heating degree days. Two year actual BTU usage for the old building was 1.3867 therms per square foot. Two year estimated BTU usage for the new building is 0.16 therms per square foot. See graphs.
